“Can we play a game?” Games and plays are not only fun, but they are also great tools for language learning. When purposefully designed and effectively integrated into the foreign language classroom, they, for example, may improve pupils' vocabulary and grammar. In addition, they can foster different skills and competences such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and ICC. This course intends to give an overview of play activities which can be integrated into the EFL classroom to promote different communicative competences. Various types of games and plays will be looked at (e.g. board games, movement games, games with music, TV show games, digital games and role-plays). Special focus will be put on how to make use of those games and plays in a concrete classroom situation. This will, of course, also require some playing on your part!
