Comment/Description

This course is about the meaning of words (lexical meanings, sentences (propositional meanings) and utterances (utterance meanings). Thus, we will not only discuss what words and sentences mean 'in and of themselves' - but also what we mean when we choose and (mis-)understand them in particular contexts of use. Some aspects of the introductory lecture to English linguistics will be repeated and elaborated in due time.

Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und des Faches Englisch können sich bereits während der vorgezogenen Anmeldephase zur Sicherstellung des Studienfortschritts für die Aufbau- und Vertiefungsmodule anmelden.
