“We need to understand that five hundred years of humanism may be coming to an end, as humanism transforms itself into something that we must helplessly call posthumanism“ (Hassan 1977, 843). The paradigm of post- or trans-humanism challenges pervasive binaries such as natural / artificial, organic / machinic, mind / body, virtual / material, or human / animal.
That is why we will attempt to explore the potential of transhumanism for teaching EFL classes. We will draw our attention to a plethora of genres, media and materials, e.g. novels, plays, films, songs, TV series, which deal with this new development. Attendance at the 6th „Tag der Englischdidaktik“ (TEFL Day) in July, which will focus this topic with well-known scholars, is obligatory.
Let’s hope that at the end of the term we will be able to judge whether transhumanism is really „the world’s most dangerous idea“ (Fukuyama).

Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
Die Plätze in den betreffenden Veranstaltungen wurden am 22.04.2020 um 08:00 verteilt. Weitere Plätze werden evtl. über Wartelisten zur Verfügung gestellt.
