Kommentar/Beschreibung

This course is part of the 2023 Augsburg Summer Program and taught by Prof. Oksana Holovko-Havrysheva from the University of Lviv and NaUKMA (Kiev).

This class is designed to provide an overview of the legal issues addressing the cooperation between the European Union and Eastern Partnership Countries in economic matters and challenges which both the EU, the EaP, and especially Ukraine encounter because of the Russian war against Ukraine. First, we will address the cooperation between the EU and EaP countries with the particular focus on the cooperation in economic area. The EU deploys different types of legal instruments for developing the cooperation with the EaP Countries (e.g. Association Agreements, CEPA, etc), which differently approach the development of the cooperation in economic matters. Second, we will then discuss the cooperation between the EU and Armenia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in economic area and highlight the national practices and the progress the countries achieved in adapting their legislation to the EU rules and standards. Third, we will look into the challenges the Russian war against Ukraine brings for the economic development in the EaP region and for the cooperation between the EU and EaP countries in economic matters.
