Kommentar/Beschreibung

Good writing is rewriting. It is to tidy and to trim, shedding any words that aren’t holding their weight. But because writers are so deep in their own work, taking a step back and looking at a text through the eyes of an editor is much easier said than done. So how can you draft like a writer and edit like a reader? This three-day workshop (or maybe it’s more accurate to call it a sort of boot camp) tackles these challenges by, one, sharing tips, and, two, providing time to roll up your sleeves and get to work editing. To prepare, participants will be asked to fill out a preliminary survey in advance and, then, to bring material to the workshop—anything from a not-quite-there chapter or essay to an unruly dissertation draft.
