Comment/Description

This companion course for the Introduction to English Linguistics has two components: On one hand, the topics covered in the Introduction are discussed at greater length to prepare you for the module exam. Thus, questions regarding general linguistics, structuralism, phonetics/phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics as well as pragmatics and the history of English will be actively discussed in groups. On the other hand, students are required to summarize, structure and explain the key facts, principles and insights and express them in their own words by writing their own textbooks.

Please note: Beginning with the winter term 2012/13, students are required to enroll in the Introduction to English Linguistics and the Übung Study Skills in the same semester because according to the new modularized LPO UA (2012) and BaPO (2012), there is only one module exam. Study Skills repeaters and those following the old modularized LPO will be required to take a final exam at the end of the respective semester.
