Comment/Description

The goal of this lecture course is to provide an introduction to the theory and practice of pragmatics, focusing in particular on pragmatics as a perspective, and applying and adapting the pragmatic perspective to the strategic use of language. We will discuss deixis, presupposition, speech act theory, Gricean pragmatics, Relevance Theory and implicature.
