Miscellanea Dozentin: Dr. Anne Schreiter
Dr. Schreiter ist seit 2016 Geschäftsführerin von Guidance, Skills & Opportunities for Researchers e. V. (GSO). Sie studierte Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftskommunikation in Berlin und Chinesische Sprache in Nanjing. Anne Schreiter wurde in St. Gallen im Fach Organisationssoziologie promoviert und forschte ein Jahr als Postdoc an der University of California in Berkeley.

Comment/Description

Only 15% of all PhDs under the age of 45 in Germany work at a university. A fraction of them hold a professorship or a permanent position. The majority of PHDs work in in the business or in the public or non-profit sectors. But how do academics actually find a “good fit” outside their familiar academic environment? And how do they make the transition to other sectors? What career models are possible?
We will provide an overview of a career strategy including self-reflection, visibility and networking (online & offline), as well as application strategies. The workshop alternates input with discussions and group work.
