Comment/Description

This Practice Course (Übung) has the aim to offer a structured overview over core categories of narratology (the study of narrative structure) and to get to know and practice the elementary tools needed for narrative analysis.

We will consider for example:
- Narrative situation (Who speaks? Who perceives?) (Gérard Genette's model, also compared to Franz Stanzel's model)
- Strategies of rendering consciousness in narrative
- Time and space in narrative
- Unreliability

For students taking this Übung as part of EAS 1411: This course is paired with the PS "Time and Narrative" (Heß, Wed. 3.45-5.15 pm)
