This survey course is the third of a four-part series covering English literary history from the Middle Ages to the present. This term we will focus on English literature from the late 18th century to the 19th century, and thus include the Romantic period and the Victorian Age.
In this course, participants are expected to read a wide range of textual samples and examples by relevant authors.
A reader with assorted texts will be made available at the beginning of term. Besides that, students are required to obtain their own copies of the following texts:
• Mary Shelley, _Frankenstein_ (1818 text; Penguin Classics)
• Charles Dickens, _Hard Times_(Penguin Classics)
COVID-19 notice: The seminar will be taught on site (room D/1003). If required by pandemic-related regulations, we will switch to weekly zoom-meetings.
