The aim of this course is to give a comprehensive introduction to the so-called “Second Generation Romantics”. We will approach the life and works of Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley and John Keats by a close reading of selected poems. In order to be able to fully understand these texts, we shall also explore their socio-historical context and discuss key concepts of English Romanticism.
