Kommentar/Beschreibung

Real-time systems are computer systems whose correctness is defined not only by the correct result of a computation, but also by correct timing behavior. Put simply: if an embedded system responds too late, it is just as useless as if it had not responded at all or had responded incorrectly. For example, an airbag should deploy before the driver’s head hits the steering wheel. Similarly, a self-driving vehicle must brake autonomously in time to prevent an accident from occurring, and a coffee machine should stop dispensing coffee before the cup overflows.

In this lecture, we will examine the timing behavior of such embedded real-time systems. We will learn how to influence and validate the timing behavior of these systems, as well as how different design decisions affect their timing behavior.
