This course will give an introduction to meaning-related linguistics, presenting key topics and questions of the discipline. It will focus on different types of meaning and how to distinguish between them, the concept of the linguistic sign, the various relationships between words, the varying approaches to the study of semantics, the structure of the mental lexicon, the connection between meaning and cognition and the process of semantic change.
