Comment/Description

Core practices (CP) are identifiable, fundamental components of classroom-based teaching to support learning of all students. Examples of CP include facilitating whole class discussion, eliciting student thinking, and maintaining classroom norms. In this course, we will explore CP for teaching English. We will also look at how we can use CP to teach multilingual students and humanise the foreign language classroom. As well as researching core practices, we will also try out CP in micro-teaching sessions with video feedback.

For this course you need a keen interest in looking at teaching from a different perspective and a willingness to try out CP for yourself. Your attendance and enthusiasm for teaching is absolutely essential!
