Positive psychology refers to the scientific approach of understanding peoples’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with focus on positivity, flourishing, well-being, and optimal functioning. Transferring this to the school context, the aim of this seminar is to gather a fundamental understanding of the role of positive psychology in classrooms with an emphasis on student well-being, teacher well-being, and how the two intertwine. Within this, relevant theories and empirical findings within the field of positive psychology will be discussed in reference to the school context. A focus will also be placed on how this knowledge can be put into practice.
