This course is designed for students to develop an understanding of the international aspects of certain areas of civil procedure such as choice of law, subject matter and personal jurisdiction, forum selection devices, and the enforcement of judgments; and develop an appreciation for the overlap of public and private international law arising in civil litigation such as foreign sovereign immunity and investment protection; and understand how issues relating commercial arbitration are handled in municipal courts. The course is designed to be both theoretical and intensely practical, and provide students with an appreciation of proactive risk mitigation strategies when managing multijurisdictional commercial disputes.
