The Geostatistics exercise course introduces participants to statistical methods in human geography to describe, analyse, and interpret data relationships. Participants need to apply quantitative and inferential statistical methods to geographical datasets. Participants will be introduced to analytical techniques and simple statistical tests using SPSS and R statistical softwares. The participants will also interpret statistical outputs and draw meaningful conclusions from data. By the end of the exercise, cours participants should be able to: 1) Identify and apply appropriate measures of central tendency and dispersion based on variable scale levels. 2) Analyse relationships between variables using crosstabulations, correlations, and significance tests. 3) Interpret SPSS outputs and draw valid conclusions from statistical results. 4) Apply inferential tests (t-test, chi-square) to determine significant differences or associations. 5) Visualise and interpret data using boxplots. |
