Kommentar/Beschreibung

In this advanced bi-weekly research seminar we will examine theories of adaptation with a focus on TV and film adaptations of literary texts as well as Global South ‘versions' of popular shows and films. Furthermore, we will engage with recent shifts towards ‘big data' analyses and the method of ‘distant viewing‘.
Based on a problem-based learning approach and in continuous consultation with the instructor, participants will have to work on their own or group research projects throughout the semester and apply theoretical approaches to specific examples. Hence, prior knowledge of and experience in cultural studies and cultural analysis, including TV and film analysis, is expected. The seminar will be accompanied by presentations and discussions of current research projects and demands a willingness to engage with a broad variety of contexts and theories. Participants’ projects can be presented at the annual NELK student conference in November 2024 and/or displayed on the NELK Horizons webpage for student projects.

Anmelderegeln

Diese Veranstaltung gehört zum Anmeldeset "Zeitgesteuerte Anmeldung: Televisual Adaptations: ‘Close’ and ‘Distant’ Viewing (HS/OS)".
Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und des Faches Englisch können sich bereits während der vorgezogenen Anmeldephase zur Sicherstellung des Studienfortschritts für die Aufbau- und Vertiefungsmodule anmelden. Hierzu wird ein gewisses Kontingent der Kursplätze im Zeitraum vom 19.02.2024 bis 28.02.2024 für die Anmeldung geöffnet. Die Verteilung der Plätze erfolgt am 01.03.2024. Bitte beachten Sie, dass in dieser Anmeldephase Studierende in höheren Fachsemestern bei der Verteilung der Plätze priorisiert werden.
Die allgemeine Anmeldephase beginnt am 04.03.2024 und endet am 08.04.2024.
Folgende Regeln gelten für die Anmeldung:
  • Die Anmeldung ist möglich von 04.03.2024, 08:00 bis 08.04.2024, 12:00.
  • Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
    Die Plätze in den betreffenden Veranstaltungen wurden am 10.04.2024 um 12:00 verteilt. Weitere Plätze werden evtl. über Wartelisten zur Verfügung gestellt.
