The two-day course "Introduction to project management" will be offered by Prof. Dr. Matthias Menter from the University of Jena. He is expert in the field of business dynamics, innovation and economic change. The following topics will be addressed:

Basics of project management:
- Introduction to the project management principles
- Project goal setting, planning, and structuring with a focus on dissertations and scientific projects
- Resource management and time planning considering research tasks
- Project controlling and monitoring in the scientific context

Teamwork and communication:
- Introduction to team dynamics and roles in scientific teams
- Working in intercultural and interdisciplinary teams
- Challenges and solutions in dealing with conflicts in research teams
- Effective communication, feedback culture and collaboration in a scientific context

Advanced project management techniques:
- Dealing with risk management and uncertainties in scientific projects
- Stakeholder management and balancing interests in the research environment
- Introduction to agile project management methods and the Scrum approach for research projects
- Change management and adaptation of projects in a scientific environment

Career development and personal growth:
- Self-management and time management for PhD students and Post-Docs
- Career planning and goal setting after the PhD
- Leadership skills and leadership in an academic environment
- Promotion of work-life balance and stress management in research

Learning objectives: To provide an overview of the most important aspects of project management. The course can thus serve as a starting point for participants to conduct independent, in-depth studies on the topic:

(1) Fundamentals: Understanding basic project management methods and concepts in order to plan, implement, and monitor projects efficiently

(2) Teamwork and communication: Knowledge of team dynamics, conflict management, effective communication strategies, and feedback culture knowledge of team dynamics, conflict management,
