Kommentar/Beschreibung

Task: To prepare and give a seminar talk (45 - 60 min) about one of the currently active field of fundamental physics of two-dimensional electron systems, with a discussion of their possible applications.
Possible topics:
Quantum Hall effect: Fundamental physics and applications in metrology
Plasma waves in two-dimensional electron systems; their application for detection of electromagnetic radiation
Spectroscopy of quantum dots
Graphene: Electronic spectrum, linear and nonlinear electrodynamic properties
