Lernorganisation Course Structure
The course has been organized around a set of readings that will be assigned by day. These readings have been pre-selected by the instructor. Each day, the selected readings will include a range of papers from classics to contemporary as well as conceptual and empirical studies on specific topics. It is designed in a way such that students will become familiar with the literature as well as have a baseline understanding necessary to start research on a specific area.

Grading
Preparation and Participation 50%
Research Paper 50%

Participation
All students are expected to prepare for and participate in every seminar meeting. The reading load for each session is usually five to seven articles. Note that there is a significant variance in the density of the articles, thus, students are advised to plan their reading and study time carefully. Before the first session of class, each member of the class must prepare at least a 1 page summary for all (each of) the articles
Two members of the class will also be designated as session leaders for each meeting. Collaboratively, they will be responsible for generating a scholarly discussion, involving all (most) class-mates in the discussion, summarizing key points, creating an integrative framework capturing the essence of the readings, and facilitating the exploration of linkages among readings. To the extent possible, comments by seminar participants should be thoughtful and specific to the papers being covered. After the session each day, session leaders will prepare integrative critique of the daily readings.

Term Paper
Students will work on a research project (with Professor Veit and me) to prepare a manuscript over the duration of the course and after. The purpose of this exercise is to develop a manuscript for submission the DIGIT 2017, a pre-conference workshop held before International Conference in Information Systems (ICIS), 2017 in Seoul, Korea The quality of the overall paper, the theory developed, and the methodology planned will be the most critical in determining the grade. I/we will be meeting with each team regarding their assigned topic.

Deadlines for the term paper are as follows:

Proposal: Final session of Week 1
Detailed Outline and presentation of ideas and paper structure: Presentations one week after course meetings end in Week 2
Final Manuscript: End of July 2017; Final Submission is September 1, 2017.

The paper proposal (maximum two pages) should include a description of the topic scope, rationale for selection, proposed methodology, and initial references. By week 2, students should have consulted about 25 references, and have a fairly good idea of the paper that will be submitted. The final paper should be in the format required by "authors instructions" for DIGIT 2017.
