Dieser Grundkurs findet in englischer Sprache statt!

Die Gemeinschaft der im Feld der Internationalen Beziehungen arbeitenden WissenschaftlerInnen beschäftigt sich u.a. mit den folgenden Fragen: Wie verteilt sich die Macht zwischen Staaten, transnationalen Konzernen und Nicht-Regierungsorganisationen in einer sich zunehmend transnationalisierenden Welt und was bedeutet dies für unser Verständnis von Souveränität und Autorität? Wie lassen sich Probleme von weltweiter Bedeutung wie Klimawandel, Migration, Hunger, Pandemien, Terrorismus und Menschenhandel in Abwesenheit einer Weltregierung trotzdem regulieren? Zur Bearbeitung dieser Problemstellungen kann inzwischen auf ein dichtes Geflecht miteinander wechselseitig konkurrierender und sich ergänzender Theorien der Internationalen Beziehungen zurückgegriffen werden. Dieser Wissensbestand transformiert sich zwar fortlaufend, insofern alte Hypothesen und Annahmen verworfen bzw. modifiziert und durch neue überarbeitete Modelle ersetzt werden, doch trotzdem lassen sich einige „Klassiker“ (jüngeren wie älteren Datums) identifizieren, deren Überlegungen das Denken in unserer Disziplin zunächst gründlich irritiert und später maßgeblich angeleitet haben.

This seminar is linked to the Jean Monnet Chair in EU Counter-Terrorism that was awarded to Professor Christian Kaunert in July 2018. In 2020, Prof Kaunert was also awarded a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, a Jean Monnet Network of Excellence in EU Counter-Terrorism, and a Jean Monnet module in Hybrid Warfare. The Jean Monnet Network on EU Counter-Terrorism, which includes the University of Augsburg, is to achieve recognition globally as a leader in the field. The network will have a strong international dimension by drawing upon long-established and emergent collaborations with a range of researchers in the UK, Europe and Israel and North Africa. The network includes the University of South Wales, University of the West of England Bristol and Cardiff University in the UK, Dublin City University in Ireland, the University of Augsburg in Germany, the Egmont Institute in Belgium, the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, the University of Pisa in Italy, CIDOB Barcelona and the University of Deusto Bilbao in Spain, the University of Iasi in Romania, Prague Metropolitan University in the Czech Republic, the IDC Herzliya in Israel and the University of Jendouba in Tunisia.
