Poetry analysis is one of the five major areas relevant to literary studies (prose, drama, poetry, film, and literary theory). Poetry is often regarded as "difficult" or even "inaccessible." This course aims to let you get acquainted and more comfortable with a variety of tools and approaches to access and analyze poems, to discuss together how form and content are linked, and how we might also understand poems within specific historical, cultural, and formal contexts.
The course is intended for all students of English and American Studies, and it is especially recommended for those who study English education as preparation for the Staatsexamen.

The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the key concepts of poetry analysis and its various critical approaches. In this course we will analyze a wide range of selected poems and consider them in the context of different periods and genres of American literature. The course is meant as a space to practice your own skills of poetry analysis

Anmelderegeln

Diese Veranstaltung gehört zum Anmeldeset "ALW/ELW/NELK: Aufbaumodul BA/LA: Ü".
Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und des Faches Englisch können sich bereits während der vorgezogenen Anmeldephase zur Sicherstellung des Studienfortschritts für die Aufbau- und Vertiefungsmodule anmelden. Hierzu wird ein gewisses Kontingent der Kursplätze im Zeitraum vom 20.02.2023 bis 01.03.2023 für die Anmeldung geöffnet. Die Verteilung der Plätze erfolgt am 03.03.2023.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass in dieser Anmeldephase Studierende in höheren Fachsemestern bei der Verteilung der Plätze priorisiert werden.
Die allgemeine Anmeldephase beginnt am 06.03.2023 und endet am 10.04.2023.
Folgende Regeln gelten für die Anmeldung:
  • Die Anmeldung ist möglich von 06.03.2023, 08:00 bis 10.04.2023, 12:00.
  • Die Anmeldung zu maximal 1 Veranstaltungen des Anmeldesets ist erlaubt.
  • Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
    Die Plätze in den betreffenden Veranstaltungen wurden am 12.04.2023 um 18:00 verteilt. Weitere Plätze werden evtl. über Wartelisten zur Verfügung gestellt.
