This course serves as a basic introduction to the tools, methods and applications in corpus linguistics. We will explore and discuss some of the essential, practical decisions involved in studying linguistic phenomena in larger sets of texts (corpora), exploring their frequencies and dispersions within and across different text genres. This practical course will have students how to use syntactic and semantic taggers, how to use different concordancers, how to use collocation and NGram tools and how analyze keywords in different types of text. After all, some form of corpus linguistics is used in almost any type of linguistic research today.
