This Übung will acquaint students with the basic skills needed for the analysis of dramatic texts. By looking at two full-length plays and some further excerpts as well as influential theoretical backgrounds, students will gain insight into all essential elements of drama analysis. We will discuss and apply aspects of structure and dramatic speech as well as concepts of time, space and characterization. By examining a variety of different American plays, we will explore the genre as a whole, but also distinguish between categories of epic and absolute drama.
Students will need to acquire two plays (tba), additional material will be made available in a reader at the beginning of the semester.
One session will take place in the evening (time and date tba) as we will go on a theater excursion together.
Students attending the seminar “Modernist Northamerican Drama” within the module EAS-1411 will automatically be allotted to the Übung “Drama Analysis” (Milena Krischer, Fri 11.45-13.15).

Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und des Faches Englisch können sich bereits während der vorgezogenen Anmeldephase zur Sicherstellung des Studienfortschritts für die Aufbau- und Vertiefungsmodule anmelden. Hierzu wird ein gewisses Kontingent der Kursplätze im Zeitraum vom 22.08.2022 bis 31.08.2022 für die Anmeldung geöffnet. Die Verteilung der Plätze erfolgt am 02.09.2022.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass in dieser Anmeldephase Studierende in höheren Fachsemestern bei der Verteilung der Plätze priorisiert werden. Die allgemeine Anmeldephase beginnt am 05.09.2022 und endet am 10.10.2022. Folgende Regeln gelten für die Anmeldung:
Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
Die Plätze in den betreffenden Veranstaltungen wurden am 12.10.2022 um 18:00 verteilt. Weitere Plätze werden evtl. über Wartelisten zur Verfügung gestellt.
Die Anmeldung zu maximal 1 Veranstaltungen des Anmeldesets ist erlaubt.
Die Anmeldung ist möglich von 05.09.2022, 08:00 bis 10.10.2022, 12:00.
