Kommentar/Beschreibung

This seminar deals with the intersections of speculative genres and environmental humanities in contemporary Anglophone literature. Through conceptual frameworks such as climate change fiction, Indigenous futurism, posthumanism, and dystopia/(post-)apocalypse, students will approach topics such as environmental justice, extractivism, and anthropocentrism and will examine how speculative ecofiction imagines alternative ecologies and human-nature relationships. In this course, we will investigate narratives from North America, West Africa, and the Pacific region.

All other course materials will be provided via Digicampus. Please note that this is a bi-weekly four-hour class! For the modules EAS-1411 and EAS-1414, this course has to be combined with the Ü “Narrative Analysis: Caribbean and Pacific Short Fiction” (Georgette Bentu), which is scheduled for the same time slots in the alternating weeks of this course!

Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und des Faches Englisch können sich bereits während der vorgezogenen Anmeldephase zur Sicherstellung des Studienfortschritts für die Aufbau- und Vertiefungsmodule anmelden. Hierzu wird ein gewisses Kontingent der Kursplätze im Zeitraum vom 11.08.2025 bis 24.08.2025 für die Anmeldung geöffnet. Die Verteilung der Plätze erfolgt am 24.08.2025 um 18 Uhr. Bitte beachten Sie, dass in dieser Anmeldephase Studierende in höheren Fachsemestern bei der Verteilung der Plätze priorisiert werden.
Die allgemeine Anmeldephase beginnt am 02.09.2025 und endet am 03.10.2025.
Folgende Regeln gelten für die Anmeldung:
  • Die Anmeldung ist möglich von 02.09.2025, 08:00 bis 03.10.2025, 12:00.
  • Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
    Die Plätze in den betreffenden Veranstaltungen wurden am 03.10.2025 um 18:00 verteilt. Weitere Plätze werden evtl. über Wartelisten zur Verfügung gestellt.
  • Diese Regel gilt von 02.09.2025 08:00 bis 03.10.2025 12:00.
    Die Anmeldung zu maximal 1 Veranstaltungen des Anmeldesets ist erlaubt.
