Comment/Description

The course will provide an introduction to the linguistic structure of Old English, i.e. its phonological and orthographical pecularities, its morphology and syntax as well as its lexicon. We will advance from exercises on particular linguistic aspects to the reading and translating of selected texts, both prose and poetry. Through the texts, we will also gain insights into the history and culture of Anglo-Saxon England.
