Kommentar/Beschreibung

In the words of American science fiction writer Samuel R. Delany, thinking about how the world might be in the future is “a particularly important exercise for those who are oppressed.” Examining the gradual diversification of Anglophone speculative fiction over the last century, in this course we will engage with different notions of and approaches to futurism across a broad range of African American, Caribbean, Indigenous North American, African and Indian contexts. In addition to futurist short fiction from the 1920s to the present, we will closely examine two novels, Tade Thompson’s Rosewater (2016) and Samit Basu’s The City Inside (2022), to discern the influences of literary globalization on current futurist imaginaries. While selected short fiction and supplementary readings will be made available via Digicampus, participants have to buy and read the two novels before the beginning of the semester.
For the 2-course-module EAS-1411, this PS is to be combined with one of the following Ü: Narrative Analysis: Short Fiction of the African Diaspora (Ellinger) or Narrative Analysis: Indian Short Fiction (Dolai)

Diese Veranstaltung gehört zum Anmeldeset "ALW/ELW/NELK: Aufbaumodul BA/LA: PS".
Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und des Faches Englisch können sich bereits während der vorgezogenen Anmeldephase zur Sicherstellung des Studienfortschritts für die Aufbau- und Vertiefungsmodule anmelden. Hierzu wird ein gewisses Kontingent der Kursplätze im Zeitraum vom 20.02.2023 bis 01.03.2023 für die Anmeldung geöffnet. Die Verteilung der Plätze erfolgt am 03.03.2023.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass in dieser Anmeldephase Studierende in höheren Fachsemestern bei der Verteilung der Plätze priorisiert werden.
Die allgemeine Anmeldephase beginnt am 06.03.2023 und endet am 10.04.2023.
Folgende Regeln gelten für die Anmeldung:
  • Die Anmeldung ist möglich von 06.03.2023, 08:00 bis 10.04.2023, 12:00.
  • Die Anmeldung zu maximal 1 Veranstaltungen des Anmeldesets ist erlaubt.
  • Es wird eine festgelegte Anzahl von Plätzen in den Veranstaltungen verteilt.
    Die Plätze in den betreffenden Veranstaltungen wurden am 10.04.2023 um 12:05 verteilt. Weitere Plätze werden evtl. über Wartelisten zur Verfügung gestellt.
